Felt like twenty seconds of swaying in my building. 9:50pm.

Felt it too. Hao kongbu!
Same here. We could also see the lights moving. This is the first time I've felt one.
great site posted while back by peter99
So it was 5.8 nw of Puer. Draw a diagnol to Lincang, it would be middle of it.
Yep first time I felt it to, proper swinging with the lights :)
@Alex, That website shows it at 6.6, and shallow. There could be a lot of damanage.
I found another website that shows it at 5.8 on www.emsc-csem.org/Earthquake/.
My daughter's friend found yet another at 5.3.
Little shaking in Chenggong just few minutes ago. Hope people in Puer are okay
@AlPage, yeah looks like it was updated; when I checked it was 5.8. Also, now showing a small aftershock 20 min later.
To clarify, it's nw of Puer by a fair distance. Split between Puer and Lincang. Looks like nearest major town is JingGu. That town must be damaged from a shallow 6.6
so how many earthquakes is it now in the last 2-3 years in yunnan? it's getting pretty scary.
Lived in LA - tend to ignore earthquakes.
On another note - do you all have your earthquake/disaster preparedness kits?
Water, flashlights (with fresh/recharged batteries), first aid kit, canned foods (peaches, fruits, meats, etc), dried goods (DENSE cereals, jerky, etc)?
Emergency contact numbers, agreed upon primary and secondary meeting points (for family) in event of disastrous emergencies (disasters are rarely convenient).
Blankets, dry soap or baby wipes..
Fire...etc...all in compact, grab-able form?
