Profile: Matt Schiavenza

Born and reared in sunny California, Matt first came to China in the fall of 2004 to teach English in Jiangsu Province. After two and a half years of coastal Chinese life, Matt packed up and headed south of the clouds to study Mandarin and explore beautiful Yunnan Province. Prior to moving to the Middle Kingdom, Matt spent a year studying in Padua, Italy, where he learned Italian and developed a serious appreciation for cappucinos and thin-crust pizza. When not studying, teaching, or lounging around Kunming, Matt occupies himself by listening to music, riding his bike, and tending after his cat Chairman Meow. He hopes his academic background in International Relations will lend itself to the arrival of good guacamole in Kunming.
