Kunming hosting UN Asia-Pacific trade meeting

By in News on

Yesterday the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) convened a meeting in Kunming that is aimed at promoting trade within the Asia-Pacific region. The Expert Group Meeting on Promoting Trade between Asian Subregions will be held through Friday afternoon and will focus on enhancing trade relationships between East, South and Southeast Asia.

Topics scheduled for discussion among a group of government, academic and business experts include promoting trade facilitation, agriculture and innovation. Policies aimed at streamlining international transport and increasing the efficiency of existing trade relationships will also be examined.

UNESCAP said in a recent press release that despite the recent boom in international trade experienced by Asia-Pacific states, much can be done to boost trade relations between states in the region, particularly through the removal of trade barriers.
