China, India to resume military excercises

By in News on

China and India will resume their on-again-off-again military cooperation exercises in 2012, according to Indian media reports.

Two years after the Asian giants discontinued their "Hand in Hand" exercises, it appears that military ties are getting back on track in the wake of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's recent visit to the Chinese resort city of Sanya for the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) summit. Military exchanges between the two countries had been suspended until four months ago.

The first Hand in Hand exercises were held in Kunming in 2007, followed by a second set of exercises in Belgaum, India in 2008. Talks will be held next month to decide the location, date and scope of next year's exercises.
