It's a hoopoe!

By in Features on

Chris Devonshire-Ellis, Senior Partner at Dezan Shira & Associates gets props for identifying the unknown bird that we had photographed. He writes:

"It's a Hoopoe. One of my favorite birds, actually. I always know I'm getting out and about in China when I see these, they prefer wilder places, deserts, wild scrubland and so on - although I also once saw one in Ritan Park in Beijing !

A quite beautiful bird, and the only one of its kind. It belongs in it's very own special classification - Upupidae."

Respect and thanks to Chris for his eagle eye. For more information about the hoopoe, click here.
