Friday: Lecture at Yuansheng Studio
Yunnan Yuansheng Indigenous Music and Dance Studio will hold a lecture tonight by its Hungarian artist in residence, Marianne Csaky. It is titled "Desire and Subjectivity—Appropriation of the Past and Making the Present". The event is being hosted by 943 Studio and begins at 8pm with free entry.
Friday: DJ Renaud Sips at Uprock
Belgian DJ Renaud Sips (aka the Shapeshifter) will be presiding at Uprock tonight, playing techno, tech-house, minimal, electro, and disco-dub. The music starts at 10pm and entry is 10 yuan.
Friday & Saturday: Double giveaways at Cupid Club
Cupid Club is kicking off two promotions this weekend. The first is a magic show: customers who can perform a magic trick for everyone will receive a dozen free beers. This event runs today, tomorrow and next weekend. 10pm.
For the second promotion, Cupid Club will give away one 29-inch color TV every day until March 31 to a lucky customer who orders Snow beer. Snow is five yuan per bottle, and three yuan before 9:30pm and after 1:00am.
Saturday morning: American consular services
The American consulate in Chengdu will hold routine consular services for American citizens from 9am to noon at the Green Lake Hotel.

Uprock's Saturday night lineup this week will be DJ Yan, DJ Maxi, and VJ AV. The music starts at 10:00pm. Free entry.
