Hey all, interesting conversation.

I think it's ridiculous to assume we're the only ones in the universe. Undeniably there IS massive evidence of UFOs, but I don't believe all UFOs are extra-terrestrial.

just my 2c

Above all, PEACE to every one of you!

Funny you should ask...I talked Ai Hua into buying a few heaters, as I noticed the bars here are not really at the ideal temp for lager drinking. Hopefully they will arrive on time. Looking at getting Coopers in the future, as I am quite partial to it myself, but in the meal time will have to make do. Boags is on its way though for sure.

Jonathan, can you arrange for some heating and humidifiers on the night to create the illusion of an Australian summer? Might help the beers go down a bit better.

S_zhongguo, that's a glowing endorsement for burnt vegemite :/

I'm very happy to say I qualify for 3 out of the 4 - so i'm set. Although i now wish i didn't drag a sixer of Oz brews from ChengDu this weekend...

I should point out to kickkick too, just as Guiness outside of Ireland, Coopers Pale anywhere beyond 300km from Adelaide tastes like a jar of burnt vegemite (possibly even iSnack2.0).

I can't help but notice that the primary UFO-sighting locations in China--Heilongjiang, Xinjiang, and Yunnan, are on China's Russian, Central Asian, and Southeast Asian borders, which will be heavily militarized to begin with, and are also I believe the primary locations for many of China's military training bases.

Also, props to Zaphod for having an awesome name. Look forward to seeing him back in the Betelgeuse system.

Jonno, you're a damn kiwi mate. Suppose the Kiwi beer guy doesn't sound nearly as impressive as Aussie beer guy :)

Anyway, hopefully you get every Aussie from the region to head in and try the good stuff!

I'm the aussie beer guy, and in answer to your valid concerns there misseward, I can guarantee that every single bottle will be served at the recommended serving temp as printed on the bottle...

Arun was for me (and presumably a lot of others) the original rock n rolla, the guy to emulate from early school days. Days when we would visit each others families on weekends, and immediately after exchanging pleasantries be off on a cycle, he riding, me on pillion, in any direction, till hunger got the better of our vagabond spirits.

He would chaperone me to Kerala for the summer holidays when I wasn't old enough to travel on my own. Train journeys were never so much fun, when we would share our berth, sneaking away in the middle of the night when his parents were asleep, patrolling the aisles end to end till the vestibules prevented us, pestering ticket collectors into parting a share of groundnuts and other eatables.

His incredible stories bring back tears of laughter even today, especially of one where he convinced some of his classmates in engineering college into believing that Jim Morrison was the 4th President of the USA.

I last met him at the Tull concert, where he entered the grounds with trademark bag on back, hunched over his Yamaha. A conversation on longitudes and latitudes and the free spirit of life in Yunnan ensued before we decided to meet the next day for some drinks…never to happen.

He has "gone up the country, where the water tastes like wine."

Will miss him and his randomness.
