Forums > Living in Kunming > Response to "gaoxing" I don't know why i'm wasting my time on this...
first of all, i wouldn't consider myself a Salvador's 'regular'. i do however like the place and go there quite often. maybe there's another place with the same name because the people there seemed decent enough to me.
Gaoxing, you're an idiot. what were you thinking when you started posting abusive threads? what did you hope to gain? you're classified in dating was nothing short of ridiculous whatever your social issues may be. so now you're leaving to find easier women? good luck to you. good riddance! ...you won't be missed so just leave quietly and stop wasting your precious time.
Forums > Living in Kunming > tired of repeat ads offering cheap electronic goods i've seen a lot of ads(spam) in the classifieds section recently offering lists of cameras/phones/computer stuff at low prices. if you reply they'll usually ask you to use cash transfer or another unsafe payment method. this certainly looks like a scam but has anyone been brave (stupid) enough to send money? it just annoys me that they're so persistent.
Forums > Living in Kunming > Richland Hospital things can go wrong when you go into hospital in any country. hospitals don't always handle these situations well. look at the NHS for example... removing the wrong kidney, harvesting organs without consent etc. looking at the choices available, i still feel that i made the right choice in going to Richland. maybe with this new 'western clinic' open standards will improve.
Forums > Study > English schools for children tell her to try Shane English School. they offer demo classes on the weekend that her child could try to see if he or she likes it there. there's one around the Beijing Lu / Renmin Zhong Lu intersection and another on Dianchi Lu. the former is the largest and she can call them on 0871 3109028.
Baiyun Lu closed for 18 months, civilian "air raid shelter" to be built
发布者Beijing lu in that area is now a nightmare, especially at rush hours. It was bad before but somehow it got worse and the daily car parks start somewhere past the ring road for those going south. the pedestrian crossings are a nightmare with pedestrians, cars and bikes/ebikes all competing for the same space. any of the above can now come from any direction at any time. the traffic lights are useless and so are the crossing people/police. One good rainy night and the whole intersection of Baiyun Lu and Beijing lu is flooded. It seems that nobody considered drainage.
Kunming police taking steps to tame traffic chaos
发布者I got fined 50rmb for riding across a road NEXT TO the pedestrian crossing (rightly so - I was in the wrong) but as I was leaving at least 2 guys were getting visibly upset with the police, 1 woman was crying and another was screaming angrily. Since then they just make people walk their bikes across. The problem is that the police are only at one junction on Beijing lu... everywhere else is still as it always was and once the police leave at about 6pm even that one crossing reverts to the usual craziness. This education is going to be a long process!
Chinese student apologizes after Maryland graduation speech sparks firestorm
发布者@Liumingke1234 - yes, the air here is MUCH cleaner than in Beijing but let's not pretend it's 'fresh' or free of pollution. So Kunming "enjoys high-quality air, with the PM2.5 always staying below 50"?? I must be in a different city... according to www.pm25s.com/en/kunming.html
Kunming AQI ranks #133 in China at the moment (total 367).

发布者I saw one of those yellow OFO bikes sprayed red on my way home. It was a really messy paint job too. 2 students riding on it.
Kunming's bike share options: A user guide
发布者oh.. I've also noticed recently that locking bike racks are being installed on the streets. I'd guess that they hold 10 to 15 bikes each. The initial article mentioned 45,000 bikes so they'll be needing a lot more of them.
