Agree with Bucko. Could easily go through 6000 p/m as a single person here with few 'luxuries' 10,000 I'd be living sweet. I reckon I need around 7-8000 a month to live an enjoyable life (by my standards), that is, living a similar lifestyle as I would back home. I don't see why I should lower my living standards just because I am living in another country.
I guess living the single life in China you are spending more, as you have no Chinese other half to hold the purse strings so to speak...
My friend came to KM for a visit and fell in love with the place, decided to stay (can't blame him after four years in Hebei! Who wouldn't love KM after that ordeal! Haha) so found a job here.
Anyway, he's on a budget and is looking for a small studio flat/one bed place. He would rather not go through an agent and have to pay a months rent for the agent fee, so I'm wondering if any of you guys have any recommendations on where to look directly.? Adverts on this site are not cheap to say the least! My Chinese is not good enough to use 58.com, though conversational is not bad, I could probably manage dealing with landlords face to face.
Are any of you currently in a studio and moving or maybe your landlord has other studios for rent? Ideally it should be downtown as he has found a job in the centre, though a bus ride is possible if the place is right!

That's 19 and 25 kuai for the meal right? Surprised about the price difference! Hadn't noticed it before. I tend to go to the two Macs at Qingnian Lu and Zhengyi Mall. I'll check the prices next time!
Also, heard they had opened a Macs in Kunming Zoo, I was happy about this as I live five minutes away, only to be disappointed because they only sell, McChicken burgers and nuggets! No Fillet o' Fish, double cheese or Big Macs.: ( You even have to pay the zoo entry fee to use the McDonalds :O What's up with that!?
BTW: We don't have mad cow any more!! Though apparently we sometimes have horse meat in our beef! :D

Really impressed with this place. The only problem for me is the location, since I live downtown.
Very extensive menu and none of us (4 people) were disappointed with our orders. Decent sized portions, good flavour and nice outdoor seating area.
Will definitely go back and try other things on the menu!

Don't know what happened to this place.. New menu (of which they didnt have the first five things we tried to order).Prices have doubled.
Two stars for the Thai fried rice, mashed potatoes and outdoor seating area.
Went for a late lunch today. Prices are really good, plus they have chicken pot pies! Great selection of import foods in the store (pricey though) Really friendly staff.
