However, notary alone is not sufficient to make official documents useful in USA - for that, you need to visit Foreign Affairs Office in Kunming (forgot adddress), and then have it sent to Beijing first to China's Foreign Ministry and then to US consulate for additional legalizations.

The Foreign Affairs office can do these two steps for you, but in our case one document got lost between China's Foreign Ministry and my country's consulate, and neither accepted responsibility. I ended up flying there myself to do it.

Requirements for less than official documents naturally depend on what the recipient entity is ready to accept.]]></content:encoded>
