Can anyone recommend a good place to buy quality ground coffee?
Gasping for a proper brew...

Quick and easy is Metro in Beichen which has a range of ground coffees. There is also a specialist coffee shop in the centre of town I read about on here. Not in a position to do a search for it right now. Yunnan coffee that’s been roasted well is up there with the best and that’s were this specialist place might come in useful.
I think the Wicker baskets still carry the Hani coffee. I think there is a ground, but not positive.
Carrefour has a decent selection, as long as you don't buy their brand. Melita or the Grand Arabica are alright to average. And then there's Starbucks, someone else mentioned they might have a Yunnan blend now.
Wicker Basket does sell ground Hani Coffee in 3-4 different roasts, as well as a couple of other local brands (one is Aini), but I don't know if the others are also ground.
Brooklyn Pizza sells beans at different roasts, perhaps also ground.
Salvador's sells beans, perhaps also ground.
You can buy a cheap grinder and grind the beans yourself, fresh.
I'd leave Starbuck's alone.
How do Starbucks manage to take good quality beans, from across the coffee producing regions, and produce the same generic, bland, uninspiring ‘drink’? It’s quite a fete on their part.
Quick note on Metro's Rioba brand. They do several roasts but they are all the same bean. These come as whole beans or ground. Moderate quality.
One problem I have found is that there are lots of locals roasting local beans who are wanting top artisan prices, but they are not masters of the art.
Thanks for all the recommendations!
Where is Wicker Basket, please?
I thought about Salvador's, I'll also try them.
Cheers
Check the listings for Wicker Basket. There are 3. One north, one south, one west. www.gokunming.com/[...]
@tigertiger Fantastic. Thanks
Get hold of some fresh Yunnan coffee beans. Roast (this an be done on a pan if you don’t have an oven), grind and brew when required. Takes a few minutes but worth it. Your house is gonna beat the aroma of a Parisian coffee house in Venice away from the canals. If you wanna go a step further then I recommend fresh Colombian or Ethiopian. Top quality cups of coffee for a fraction of the price...
