    • Forums > Food & Drink > Modern Toilet restaurant

Had a look at that link. It looks like icecream to me. Someone should do this properly. No chairs, no tables. Just a room full of urinals and squat toilets that's never cleaned....an artist working in the kitchen producing perfect replicas of every type of poo from food. Curly ones, big long ones, two tone ones, splatter ones. There should also be someone going around with the generic cloth spreading the bacteria evenly over all surfaces so you can be sure to re-live your dining experience soon after arriving home.

    • Forums > Food & Drink > Meat Sources

After trying several different markets my Chinese teacher recommended I buy meat from Walmart as a reliable and better quality source. To be honest, from what I've bought and cooked it isn't that much better. It seems to release a lot of water when cooking (both chicken and beef). Could anyone shed some light on places to buy high quality meat, local and imported? One thing I'm keen to find is a leg of uncooked ham. Also steak meat, minced beef and chicken legs and thighs. Any recommendations on how to choose a chicken at the market?

    • Forums > Living in Kunming > Rock Climbing in Kunming

As far as I know there are two rock climbing walls in Kunming, although I've only been to one. It is a small bouldering wall within a bar. There are lots of experienced Chinese climbers there, who go out to the mountains to climb at weekends. Apparently there are bolted sport routes out there. Not sure if you can get any official training in the wall or not. There are some plimsole type shoes you can use at the wall which are sufficient for a beginner indoors, but if you go out you need to buy some proper rock shoes. there are shops in town that sell them.

If you are looking to learn to climb it should be a good starting point (you should be physically fit though, as it's an overhanging wall), and you will quickly get to know the regulars who are very friendly and help you out with learning technique.

The address is: 学府路25号. Xuefu Lu. before the big intersection.

If you google "rock climbing kunming" you should find the webpage for the other wall.

    • Kunming > Paul's Shop
      搏莱便利店

Paul's shop is convenient and is a good place to buy stuff you can't get elsewhere. Unfortunately their cheese seems to have deteriorated lately. Most of the time it is very crumbly. Maybe it is being frozen. Other than that, can't complain except the prices are a bit steep. But it's like that here, some things are cheaper, some are more expensive.
