I've been in China on and off for the last year and a half. I spent more than six months in Guangzhou / Shenzhen. I have been in Shanghai for a month too. Right now I'm in Dalian, where I thought that I wanted to live, but now I realize that unless I have love in my life, then I will never be happy. If I have love then I can live anywhere with the right person. Although, I'd love to live somewhere beautiful like Hangzhou, Xiamen, Qingdao, Dalian, or perhaps even in a small village or somewhere natural. I'm turning 27 years old in November. My reflection in the mirror shows that I'm not getting any younger. I'm posting this because I'm looking for the "right one" right now. When I think of my dream girl these are some traits that I think in my mind: Smart, Funny, Creative, Easy-going, Open-minded, Family-minded, Loving, Big Hearted, and Understanding. I have a one year visa for China which I just got, and that can be renewed again. I'm going to be staying here. I'm not planning to go anywhere. Unlike some other foreign men who come here, I'm serious and committed to a long-term relationship, and having a family together right now and being together forever.
Prior to coming back to Asia in April, 2006, I was living in beautiful Portland, Oregon, USA. And from 2003 until 2005 I had been living in Thailand where I taught at a variety of schools and private English lessons, and even did some web (Internet) development work. I still like to call Portland, Oregon "home" even though I'm currently looking for a new home with someone special. Here are some photos of Portland for people who haven't been there before:

I want to have a family now with one really super cool girl. Call me a "dreamer", but I'd like us to be like soulmates who share everything together including our joys, our troubles, our thoughts, our feelings, our love, travels, and mostly importantly a stable life together.
My goal is not to find someone who loves me because of money or superficial reasons. By no means am I rich. I need someone who is prepared to have a family together now or in the near future, and this relationship needs to be based on real love. I just want to have our "own life" together. Why is this so difficult to find? I'm not sure how I could make you learn everything about me online or decide to spend life together. Love is about sharing something special; a deep connection.
Frankly, I'm tired of relationships that don't go anywhere. I no longer see the point of dating someone for six months just to see the relationship disappear. I'm looking for the long-term. I want to have a baby now or in the near-future. I don't want to have a baby in a "few years". I'm ready to have a family with the right person right now.
If you are mature enough, caring enough, with a big heart and ready to have a family now in life and spend life together. Then I might be the one for you (I hope). I'm lonely. I don't have any brothers or sisters. I don't know my family, because my parents divorced when I was young, there were problems at home, and I ended up spending the rest of my childhood growing up in foster care. Since then my friends have been like family. However, I'm ready to make a loving / caring family of my own with the right one.
I'm looking for someone who's interested in me as a person.

I'm very open and honest. I'm a good person with a good heart deep down.
Here are some things that I absolutely love:
* Travel - See my resume here: http://shaun.loveacrossborders.com/
* Poetry - I've published three books on my own. You can read them if you like...

My community based poetry web site: http://www.loveacrossborders.com
* Politics - You name it. I love discussing any kind of politics. I'm generally moderate to very liberal leaning depending on the issue. I support gay marriage, drug legalization, and independence.
* Philosophy - Looking for the truth in life. I'm also not religious at all. I'm also not necessarily atheist. I sort of have my worldview.
* Nature - Camping, hiking, and walking somewhere beautiful.
* Computers / Internet - I'm into Web2.0 web sites and Linux among other things.
* Dogs - I absolutely adore dogs and animals (including humans :p) in general
Ideally, I'd like to find someone who's interested in business, someone who's smart and creative. Ideally a month or two from now I'd like to be living either in China or the U.S in a nice little apartment / house with our kids doing some kind of business or service from home.
I think there's many benefits of couples from two different cultures, e.g: "mixed":
* Being the same, but different
* Our kids will be exposed to more of the world giving them a greater advantage
* Physical attraction
* Taking the "best" of both cultures and finding the way to put them together
* Speaking two different languages
There's also negative aspects too, such as:
* Misunderstandings
* Family issues
* Having different passports
However, I'm willing to take the risk to give everything to the right person. I wish that girl were reading this post right now about to contact me. If you can give everything to me, then I promise that I will give everything to you, as well.
I'm totally honest, silly, direct, sincere, loving, and want someone in my life now for always.
There's no way I can put all of my thoughts, feelings, or history down in this one message. I just hope that when you read this that you have a feeling inside that tells you something about me. Then we can begin planning our life together right now.
Perhaps you think this message is "too open", but I'm an open and direct person. I just happen to know exactly what I'm looking for and I know what I want in life right now. I want a long-term relationship, living together, and family. I'm pretty confident that I can find work anywhere in China or do some kind of business.

Travel and volunteer work abroad for more than six years has helped me to truly become a knowledgeable, educated, open-minded, and skillful person. Independently I was able to absorb myself into various cultures with sometimes profound experiences. In new and stressful situations I learned to focus, find self-motivation, commitment, tolerance, and enthusiasm.
