    • I think they've slipped since their heyday, but still not bad in terms of quality of food. The service last time I was there wasn't great, but I guess there are plenty of places with the same problem. All in all, I will probably go back...out of habit? Try for yourself.

    • Mc Donald's breakfast better than Prague Cafe? that's funny..I personally think Prague Cafe's cappuccino is the best in town...
exorbitant prices? whenever I try to cook some western food I spend more in buying the ingredients, they are amazingly expensive in km..

    • Though happy with the friendly service, I'm not too impressed with the food quality vs. price ratio. Also, the vietnamese coffee comes without condenses milk as it would be served in Vietnam or next door, in vintage.

    • This is about the Prague on Wen Lin Jie:

Service has not been bad really. I have been there three times, but the food is not that great really. People fawn over this place and I am convinced many laowai have become simply desperate.

      > I ordered a 28RMB veggie burger that was a scoop of mashed potatoes on a hamburger bun. WHAT! You try to eat it and the mashed potatoes drip out the sides. What a farce. The total product cost here was probably 2 or 3 kuai at most.

      > The Alredo pasta was okay but nothing worth going back for, and the portion was extremely small and expensive.

      > The "American" breakfast people told me about was another expensive let down.

      - Ordered a side of ham as I was really hungry. It arrived about ten minutes before my breakfast. So, of course I have snacked it to oblivion by then.

      - When my breakfast arrive my over-easy eggs (you can select egg styles on the menu but seems the cook does it how he/she wants to anyway) were not over-easy. The yokes were broken and the eggs were getting cold and hard from sitting on the counter. They were rubbery in fact by this time.
      - The "breakfast sausage" link is a grilled hotdog. I like one the chicken flavored ones form Paul's. A chicken hotdog become breakfast sausage. HAHAHA. At least it was that canned Chiniese spam stuff they always called this or that.

      - I get the staple of every American breakfast however. What is that? A pancake? Hashbowns? Biscuit and gravy? NO, the traditional American breakfast salad that consists mostly of cucumbers and cherry tomatoes.
      - After all of that I am chatting with my wife and my toasted roll arrives! So late I had forgotten about it. they had even cleared the table off already. Took nearly 30 minutes to get a roll.

How much for all of this "authentic" American breakfast cuisine? Counting the added side of ham, 48 RMB!!! Eight dollars!

God, how can anybody give this place five stars. Owner's and their friends no doubt.

    • It might be worth identifying which Prague venue you are reviewing.

When I first arrived in Kunming I did a tour of Wenlin Jie. I did't like the look of Prague.
More recently I have used Prague in Beichen a lot and I like it.

Ref the comment @nonsecond about being made sick from raw apple, WTF?

    • I really liked the cozy sidewalk cafe atmosphere, and always considered stopping by for a cup of coffee sometime. My friend wanted to treat me to some dessert on my birthday. We were pretty excited about ordering some apple pie a la mode. But when the waitress finally brought it out, the "apple pie" was just a mound of shredded apples stuffed in a stale pie-crust slice. We laughed it off and drank some coffee instead. It wasn't a horrible experience. But especially because my friend got sick from the uncooked shredded apples, I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon!

    • I went yesterday with friends and absolutely loved the atmosphere! Nice chilled-out music, cosy seating and lovely decoration. The waitress was quite nice and efficient, and our hot chocolates were delicious and nicely presented too (girls got a heart pattern in the foam, and guys got flowers ahaha). I havent tried their food so can't say anything about it, but I'll defo go back for a hot drink on a rainy afternoon :)

    • I decided to revisit Prague cafe after a bad experience there a couple of months ago. As my wife and I sat down in the empty restaurant, the waitress tossed a menu on the table and said "You can't eat that here", referring to a half-eaten bread roll, in a plastic bag amongst our shopping. My Chinese wife said we had come here to order and eat their lunch, not to be accosted on arrival. "No outside food allowed" replied the waitress. We left. Their customers went from two back to zero. Perhaps this was what was intended. The policy is fair enough, but a warm welcome it wasn't.

    • I thoroughly enjoyed the Prague Cafe last night. A friend and I each had a glass of red wine and split a Greek salad and pepperoni/mushroom pizza. The food was outstanding. The service was very good. The atmosphere was clean and pleasant. My only criticism the size of the pizzas.

    • no-one's reviewed this place for nearly 3 years! i think i know why: it's solid. a bit boring maybe, but they get the job done: food on the table in good time, attentive staff, wide selection of items. the 'Prague Breakfast' is a fine feed, still good value after the recent price increase.

    • Hello Dima; Many will welcome your arrival as the new manager. I hope that you will provide the cook with some assistance during peak hours. Some will be unhappy with the three-week closure, but you might tell them to visit Dan Di Cafe for a similar menu, if only temporarily.

    • I went to the one in Bei Chen. It is light and airy (when no one is smoking inside) and they have a great window with a pretty view.

They do have a friendly staff (that let you know your order is not available 15 minutes after you order it) The food is mediocre, raw onions inside my hamburger and Whicker Basket buns. The Fries were fried in bad oil (can taste the flavor). And if you go with a large group beware- long waits. Only one chef on hand.

And their desserts look like they bought them from some bread store? Coffee, ok, but why go there when other places offer punch cards????

    • Prague Cafe is overall very good - in par with the one in Lijiang. Waitresses are friendly and food reasonably okay. I only hate that there are too many people damn smoking right besides me, forcing me to be a second-hand smoker. Maybe the cafe should set up a no-smoking area....

    • One of the best things about the Prague Cafe are its staff. They are extremely kind and pleasant! And they always seem remember how I like my food which is extremely delightful. The atmosphere is very stylistic and the furniture very comfortable. It is also extremely clean. Finally, the food is also very good and the prices pretty reasonable.
