For many of us who have been living abroad in Kunming for a long time, this place fills 2 needs that Kunming seems devoid of otherwise.
First is top class food with top class service. It astounds me that it has taken so long and that this is still the only place in town. However, the last time I was there when we had already spent close to 1000 RMB, they still had the pretentiousness to ask for 10 kuai for 1 glass of water for my non-drinking friend. Even though that pissed me off royally, they still deserve the 5 stars.
Second is live music. These Argentinians tear it up. They are impressive not only for this city, but they would be considered prime viewing in any city. Though it's a shame that they don't get to just play what they love and have to suck up to the managers with some pop covers. I think that if they stuck to jazz and Latin, there would be more regulars.
