Depends what you are looking for. The place is ok to bring there friends who want to see a bit of tibetan culture but the food is too much overprized. Yes, for 30 minutes it can be fun when getting involved in hanging the bokas around the performers neck...but then it gets loud...

The "lodge-style" restaurant is beautiful and ornate, the service is surprisingly good and the food is quite tasty.
Of course, you have to try the yak meat and the yak butter tea!
The food is quite heavy, so it's best on a cold night.
It is Tibetan, after all...
The problem is the nightly show.
It's good for maybe the first 30 minutes or so, but then it just goes on and on and on.
It's also unbearably loud if you are sitting near the stage.
Makye Ame is not the place to go if you're looking for a place where you can actually talk to the people you're eating with.
