    • Definitely my favorite place to hang in Chengdu.

They've got just the right atmosphere, down to the furniture that was all handmade by one of the owners.

It's not one of those places for foreigners evading arrest back home.

It's mostly a Chinese crowd, but one happy to speak (in Chinese) to a stranger that sits down at their table.

I also really dig the whole music theme there.

In addition to playing quite decent tunes on the sound system, they have a variety of instruments hanging on the wall that anyone can (and does) take down and start playing.

Every time I've been there, a jam session breaks out.

    • Don't think the board games are a good thing. Also Machu opens later and later, no more lazy afternoons, rather early evenings.

    • A good place to spend a lazy afternoon people-watching from the shaded interior, also a good place to see a band up close and personal (it's not exactly a big bar). They have a few board games and occasionally even bread for sale.

    • Good relaxing small bar atmosphere; reasonably priced drinks and friendly bar staff. A conversation bar, rather than a place to get so drunk that you stand on the table dancing with utter abandonment then obliviously knock my drink over.

    • Absolutely ranks among my favourite bars in Chengdu. A friendly, alternative, mostly Chinese crowd with just a few foreigners so you get to practise your Chinese; good music at just the right volume (Jah bar take note!), a decent-sounding guitar to jam on, lots of greenery, good coffee, 10 kuai beers, a few tables outside. And the bread is indeed very good...

    • Machu Picchu is a pretty cozy hangout, but really small. Lots of locals, sometimes foreigners, concerts usually involve an acoustic guitar. Good bread, but out of my budget usually.
