    • came here last monday for banger and mash/english breakfast at about 11:30! And it wasn't open, and then a lady came at the door and told me to come sometime after 12, what a let down, I was looking forward to it for a whole week! Ganesh is going down hill!

    • i really really want Ganesh to be good. we're limited in our choice of Indian restaurants in Kunming, and i'd love to see them all succeed.

but, meet me half way, guys. when my first question inquires if i can eat (i was there mid-afternoon) and the answer is yes, i don't expect to go through the arduous task of ordering only to be told that i'd have to wait 20 minutes for the chef to return from buying vegetables.

why was ordering arduous? "we should have it" is not an answer. don't serve other customers at the same time. write it down. don't run out of stuff that can be pre-prepared and stored, like samosas. and really, why's the chef buying veggies?

    • after having our indian food at cacaja for a very long time, we finally decided to give ganesh a try, especially since the reviews on gokunming rated it as the better one of the two. all i can say is, it was a pretty stupid decision.
Ganesh’s food is pretty good, more or less the same as cacajas, although i think it’s more pricy.
what really ruined my evening was the service. seriously, worst service I’ve
ever had around wenlinjie. 3 of the 5 dishes we ordered were out of stock, we got some curry stuff instead of the soup we originally ordered, we had to ask for our rice three times(!!!) and when it finally came, the curry was already half cold. Impossible to enjoy a relaxed meal like that. it still makes me angry when i think of it. also i think the restaurant-bar concept is just not what i like, we arrived around 8ish and already had a crowd of beer drinking, shouting people surrounding us, but i guess i could probably even live with that. i think my standards regarding good service arent even that high, but after my experience at ganesh im sure i will not come back-cacaja wan sui!
one extra star for the cheese naan though.

    • Food was excellent once again, but dropped one star due to pretty slow food delivery.
The service was good in general.

    • I had dinner tonight at Ganesh and was very surprised. The food was as good as usual but the service improved a lot compared to the other times I have been there.
We were prepared to wait a long time for our orders, but the service was not only extremly fast, also very polite, nice and friendly.
I hope they can keep this level of service!

    • A friend insisted me to take her to try Ganesh. So we went. The food was as nice and tasty as last time. Friendly and smiling waitresses this time – wow!

    • I also want to add that the Vindaloo should be the hottest item on the menu,

except perhaps the East Indian Garlic Chicken. (I think I saw that)

It really isn't, along with the madras, beautiful flavour but totally mild.

    • It's okay and the taste quite like the old Indian Kitchen.

In fact their "fapiao" are still "Indian Kitchen".

As I came to dine there during the World Cup, the place is quite packed with chairs and tables though there are only two customers there.

    • I've been sporadically going to Ganesh since its opening night and so far its a place I will keep in my good books.
Though I only had dinner there once, delicious and fairly priced, I usually attend their happy hour and event nights (Tribal moon's unplugged night). It's quite a good alternative to other places to enjoy a cold beer amongst friends and meet interesting people!!
If not for the food, at least pass by for a drink, plus if you ask they put your favorite song on their playlist if available!!

    • So I went to check out Ganesh today to try out some Indian food. The decor inside is very simple, elegant, and few paintings of ganesh the indian god.

as for the food, I tried the chicken Tikka Masala, and the monday thalis.
Also ordered some french fries and a separate dish of kashilim? naan.
Ladies & Gentlemen, I left the restaurant full and happy.
Great indian curry, great chicken, great naan and the price is quite reasonble.
The only thing that made me a little unhappy was that I had to wait 25minutes, 46 seconds. No big deal though since the food was so great.
Definitely try out ganesh, if your open to all sorts of food or your a fan of indian cuisine, you'll like ganesh!

    • i haven't eaten there since the renovations, but am looking forward to it. When it was Indian Kitchen I often ate there and loved everything, and never got sick. I'm looking forward to try the new restaurant, but I can also say some of my friends won't be going there b/c the new name is a religious one. It's not that they're offended but their own religious convictions won't allowed them to eat there. So I can't take a lot of my friends there. I would have loved if the owners had considered that before choosing the new name- maybe the deity Ganesh has a special meaning to them?

    • There's no denying that this is the most delicious Indian food in town. Unfortunately, every time after eating here we have gotten sick. We've kept going because the food is so great, thinking that our sickness must have been caused by something else we'd eaten, but approximately five times without fail we've gotten sick the very next day after eating here. So, um, unless food poisoning is your thing I'd probably advise against going here.

*Actually feel really bad typing this because the staff are so sweet.

    • The setting after the renovation is much better - I am just missing the outdoor seats.

Food is nice, tasts are very good, just I have a personal problem, same as before some of the used ingrdiesnts/spices drive me to toilet 30min after consumption...and there is no exception always same...
I tried different combinations, but I just cant stand it.

    • I don't know where Piers got his chef from, but the guy (or gal) totally rocks!

the samosa is au-so-thentic! and the rest of the stuff could give many restaurants back in India a run for their curry! ;)
