  • To all those expecting an authentic Irish Pub come on we are after all living in China. I have eaten there several times and the burger is still the best in Kunming in my opinion. Staff is friendly and attentive to your needs. Place is not perfect but what is in CHina. Owners have been wonderful in opening up early for special events like the US Super Bowl.

  • Average place. It's a bit quiet and the food isn't that good. We've ordered two burgers and a fish and chips. The fish portion was quite meagre and the chips looked and tasted like they've been sitting there for two days and then refried. We even had pieces of the fish batter in the portions of chips that came with the burgers. That didn't really look like a hygienic cooking job. Burgers were tasty and the beer too (if not overpriced). The décor looks authentic and the staff are very friendly.

  • It seems all 'educatedman' can do is go to places and be a sully silly (3 reviews, 1 star total! haha). How did you get your 'education', man—in your mommy's lap with a silver spoon??

    O'Reily's definitely has the best burger in Kunming; the best draft beer/Belgian beers in Kunming; very kind staff/owners; best sports selection; great (free) pool table. What else could you want from a 'Irish' sports bar—a leprechaun??

    Perhaps 'educatedman' could find a leprechaun, get him a working visa and supply him the investment to open up a REAL Irish bar in Kunming..so he won't have bother GOK readers with his negativity! If you could look outside your ego 'educatedman', you'd notice that you're not in Ireland, BUT IN SW CHINA!!

    GOK, please consider canceling an account so that all places local expats enjoy don't get trashed by an uneducated boy...

  • educatedman, There is no way that zero stars for O'reilly's is possible O'reilly's has good beer, a pool table, better food than most and most sports on t.v. just because you didn't have a good time and the owners didn't entertain you is no reason to slag it. If you want real beer you have to pay for it go drink your tsingtao elsewhere.

  • Easily the best burger in Kunming. Portion size and taste are close to an American bar burger, but so is the price. Tap beer, despite being expensive, is delicious. Great brewpub atmosphere. Fries are just okay, but the burger, beer, and atmosphere make this worth five stars.

  • Oreillys is another place i have enjoyed. Prices are fair and the food is tasty! Burger was legit!! fish and chips not bad either. Guy that runs the place seems like a nice dude. ....Only thing that I would say was not on point is the environment.The bar itself looks awesome (maybe even a little too clean). What i mean is, You walk into the bar and all the staff (like 5+) are just standing there starring into space. In the corner there is like an owners crew speaking in french. Our waiter asked us if the food was good like 5 times.hahahah One of these things would not matter but all together makes a bizarre atmosphere. All in all will be back for sure..

  • O'Reilley's has become a really popular bar with excellent food and a great selection of Beer, from the famous Black Stuff to less well known Belgian Beers.

    The food is another good highlight, with the smiling chef always happy when the customers are looking for more of the great mid week BBQ specials. The Shepards pie is great too, as are the home-made proper chip-shop fries.

    The weekend rock and sinatra / Johnny Cash music upstairs from the two real Irish guys upstairs is a great fun night out

  • Good selection of draft beer and pub grub is nice as well. A bit of a hike from downtown but it gets me out and about. Keep up the good work.

  • People who whine about this place being far away have to realize one fact: not everyone lives close to Wenlin Jie. Yeah, I know, hard to fathom, but that is the truth. As someone who resides in the north of Kunming, I find this a very welcome addition to my neighborhood.

    Overpriced? Really? Where else are you going to get a half a pint of amazing beer for about 15 RMB (BTW: it's on tap, not in bottles). Oh, and the burgers, where else in Kunming are you going to eat an amazing burger for 40 RMB? So, yeah, if you think this place is expensive you don't know what good eating and good drinking means.

    Anyway, enough of the rant. Amazing place, amazing burgers and amazing beer. Only bad thing: service, takes a while for them to make it up to the second floor, even when the place is empty.

    Excellent food and beer...5 stars. Well done!

  • While I do appreciate the effort and love that has been put into this place, it's quite overpriced, the seating very uncomfortable, and the menu way too limited. The food they do have is remarkably good, though. Unfortunately, it's in Beichen, which means extremely far from everything, so although I wouldn't hold it against them, this is simply not a place where I would ever end up.

  • As a foreigner living in Kunming I have found Orileys Irish Pub "The Pub" an exceptional place to spend time. It draws in great friendly people. Owners are two great guys and have done a fine job with this establishment. Many foreigners call this place home in the evenings, and who wouldn't with great food, friendly staff, excellent beverage choices, billiards, and live entertainment. Everyone likes to compare pubs to the old show "Cheers", but if you go to Orileys more than once, everybody will know your name!!

  • Great burgers, cold beers, and good company. What more can you ask for? O'Reilly's really has that "Cheers" feeling of everybody knows your name. The owners are there all the time, the bartenders, chefs, and staff are all friendly, and to top it all off there's free pool and darts! I highly recommend the bacon cheeseburger with a ceasar salad instead of fries and a pint of vedette blonde.

  • 60 yuan for a pint of Guinness is very expensive. Fortunately, the Belgian beers on tap for 35 (I think?) are a good deal, as is the Fish n Chips with a pint of Carlsberg for 50.

  • Is there any chance that O'Reilly's would be able to show aussie rules football (AFL) this coming season. I know the Aus. Network shows it, and it's also available live with subscription from this site: www.afl.livesport.tv/

    I would purchase it myself, but a) My internet connection isn't fast/stable enough and b) one can desire too much of a good thing :)

  • Last night O'Reilly's hosted Kunming F.C.'s team night. We had about 25 guys there for food, drinks, and a FIFA tournament on one of the big screens. We were all very pleased with everything about O'Reilly's. A+ venue!

  • Watched the Super Bowl this morning with about 30 other fans. Close game, bad result :-(

    Thanks to O'Rielly's for getting up early after a late rugby night. Really appreciate having a venue for sports.

  • Fantastic place. Live sports as per promised with football, rugby, basketball, golf and so on.

    For the food, I've only had the cheeseburger so far and it was pretty damn good. Better yet it came with proper hot chips and not crisps.

    Friendly, knowledgable staff as well.

    Great place go to after work and having a beer and a nice chat in a comfortable pub atmosphere!

    They even tolerate wired German beer drinking habits :-)

  • I was there for the soft opening and completely agree with Colin that it's one of the best pours of Guinness I've had in Asia.

    Went again last night for a friends' birthday and tried the fish and chips. 50RMB for the fish and chips and a pint of Carlsberg is absolutely one of the best deals in town.

    The fish and chips were a bit lean on the fish and heavy on the batter but the flavor was completely there. The tartar sauce was perfect.

    We were a large group so the fish and chips came a bit slow but I'm sure they'll figure that out soon.

    Someone at our table ordered the burger which looked amazing with thick bacon and a healthy amount of cheese. I'll definitely be going back soon for that!

    Tim is obviously passionate about the place which shows in the overall quality and atmosphere of O'Reilly's.

    Lastly, we were treated to some local raspberry framboise liqueur and some birthday gin and tonics making a perfect evening even better.

  • With its beautiful genuine pub interior, O'Reilly's is owned and run by a friendly group of people that know their way around good beer and good food.

    I've had the chance to taste some of the best beers from my home country (Orval is missing, though), chilled to the right temperature, served in the right glass and poured in the right way.

    Perhaps a little something could be done in terms of noise absorption (there was a particularly cheerful group that made talking hard), but I'm really just nitpicking here. In fact, if they ever get the price down, O'Reilly's will pose a serious threat to my health and that of many others.

  • Great Pub and getting better everyday. Drafts are awesome freindly staff who can actually pour a beer and make a drink! Comfortable suroundings with a big hardwood bar and stools! The food is decent pubfare with specials coming soon that will be a unique treat.

  • Was there tonight for the opening. Good music, great beer, attentive staff, currently unfinished tables etc but I can't blame them - all the tables and chairs arrived at 5pm today (2 hours before opening!). Plus a place to watch good sports and meet new people in a welcoming atmosphere.

    The beers are expensive, but you get a lot and its REAL. The expensiveness I guarantee is because of the import duties blah blah that come with getting real beers into China (protectionist anyone?). I don't care paying a lot for the real thing though, its definitely worth it.

    Its an Irish pub. In Kunming. Perfect!

  • I can vouch for the quality of the pours. In fact I've not had such a good pull of Guinness anywhere in Asia. These guys have built a sweet spot and have the staff and product to pull off a successful bar.
