    • Hello everyone...!

I am planning on coming to Kunming for a short-term Chinese language program, but am still hesitating between Yunnan Normal and Yunnan University.
Could anyone please help me out?
Any comments, positive or negative, are welcomed...! (especially about the Chinese language + optional courses' quality, as well as the universities' organisation)

Many thanks in advance and really looking forward to getting to Kunming!

      Nat~*

    • there's also Yunnan Nationalites University-not nearly as popular and don't know how they compare-but something different, most of the chinese students are different minorities.

    • Personally I prefer YN university rather than YN normal, though I graduated from the later one. Good environment and facility in YN university and the language teaching is better. you will find a lot of foreighners both in and out of the campus. As to the accommodation, it is not easy to rent apartment near beacause it is in a central colleague area and could be expensive if you dont shall the rent with others.
If you choose to teaching in YN normal university maybe you'll get a dormitory, my foreign teacher's dorm is near the university but I'm not sure if he's paid for it.
If you want to learn chinese, I heard a new language institution for foreigners is opened in YN normal rescent year and there's a new building, too.
Personally I feel more free and open air in YN universty, though only ten minutes' walk from one another.
      good luck!

    • Hey FrenchBauhinia,

I'm having the same dilemma now as I'm choosing where to go this fall. It seems like people in this thread are saying YN uni. If you don't mind me asking, I was wondering if you could tell me which one you ended up going to/how your experiences were?

      Thanks!!
      Liz
