  • Midsummer Night's Dream - Stage Hands Needed
    

    The Kunming Community Theater Company's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream will be performed at Nordica in June. Tickets will go on sale soon.

    The Company is looking for volunteer stage hands to assist with the changing of scenes during the production. Commitment would be 5 evenings (June 19, 20, 22 and 24) and one afternoon (June 24).

    Hi everyone

    This Thursday (May 24) we will play the movie "A Beautiful life " (2011)

    A beautiful real-estate agent Li Peiru (Shu Qi) gets drunk at a karaoke bar and throws up on a righteous but lonely cop Fang Zhendong (Liu Ye). Zhendong quickly falls in love with the flirtatious Peiru despite the fact that she's having a torturous affair with a married man who happens to be her boss. As Peiru gradually abandons her materialistic values after being dumped and fired by her boss, she realises that she has fallen in love with the good hearted Zhendong but it becomes apparent that he is suffering from a disease that is robbing him of his mental faculties.

    Every week we have a movie night in KCEL on Thursday nights and play a new movie.

    The entrance is free and everyone can join the movie even from other schools. You will also have free snack and drink

    We plan to help some poor children, so we want to find some volunteer join us to hlpe and care poor children. In the Yunnan have a lot of poor children living village, some village there is no road. The school building quality is so terrible. So maybe we can bring some school supplies and book for the children.

    In the Yunnan compare with some very expensive exclusive school, I think is really unfair to poor children.

  • Midsummer Night's Dream - Help needed!
    

    Hey everyone

    Over the past few weeks, rehearsals have been taking place for the Kunming Community Theater's production of Midsummer Night's Dream.

    Unfortunately, a couple of actors have had to drop out so we are looking for people to fill the following female parts. Commitment would be about once per week until mid June, then a couple of times per week. The play is scheduled to be performed end of June.

    Philostrate/Head Fairy - The former part has no lines, and is an attendant to the Duke of Athens. The latter part is the Head Fairy attendant to the Queen of the Fairies, and has a few lines

    Cobweb and Mustardseed - Fairie attendants to the Fairy Queen, very few lines.

    Our next wine tasting event will be held on the 26th of May, a week later than originally planned. Dirk will be giving us a tasting of two varieties across four wines. I'll post more information on the labels and grapes when this is confirmed.
