Kunming & Chicago
Exhibition of Wang Yuanzhe's B/W Film Photography
Opening: 2pm Sunday, 16th July 2017
Exhibition Period: 16th - 23rd July 2017
Wang Yuanzhe has started to learn painting and photography since his early age. He has created abundant works portraying the life and scenery in Yunnan, which has won awards and prizes nationally and internationally. His works are popular among renowned social figures and artists.
Learning is the key word of his life and the pursuit for art. He once said in an interview in Chicago, “To me, the best way to take a break is to wander in the streets with my camera or to appreciate the traditional art in museums. Walking with a camera in hand, I will care more about what happens in this city and document it; visiting the museum will open my eyes with what can hardly be available in class.”
The works on display at this exhibition include those produced with black and white films and those created and enlarged in the darkroom, conveying his idea of two visions with one camera and casting light on those invisible stories related to things and people in Kunming and Chicago.
